In keeping with our theme of war and law, this month marks the 25th anniversary of the introduction of the landmark United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. The culmination of a long campaign, this legal instrument formally recognised that men and women are affected differently by conflict. The significance of this resolution can be seen by more than 10 further resolutions moving forward different aspects of the WPS agenda as well as over 100 National Action Plans detailing the implementation of its guidance and related initiatives led by regional bodies including NATO, the EU and the African Union.
